Grand Challenges is a Living Learning Community at Georgia Tech where first-years live in one of two dorms and participate in excursions and a class. The class was all about choosing a “Grand Challenge”, fully understanding it by conducting research and involving stakeholders, and then coming up with a novel solution to solve the problem. The class culminated in a poster pitch presentation at the end of the year, so the poster itself was a pretty important part of the project so I knew I had to do a good job.
We first made a really rough mockup in Google Slides to identify all of the content the final poster would need, then I put together the first version. After receiving feedback from the professors and TAs, it went through a couple iterations, which mostly centered on using less text and more visuals. Here is the final result! I prioritized a consistent color palette, keeping each section easily discernable, and bolding or resizing important points.
